How
Crime Watch Works
Crime Watch
relies on the block captain system to function. Each neighborhood that
participates in Crime Watch has a Crime Watch Coordinator who acts as
the portal for communication which flows between TPD and the neighborhood.
If crimes have been tracked in our neighborhood, TPD informs the coordinator,
who then sends a notice to all block captains. It is then the job of the
block captains to let their neighbors know of the criminal activity so
that everyone can "keep their eyes peeled."
The system
also works in reverse. The goal is to prepare residents to report suspiscious
activity not only to the police, but also to their block captain, so that
they in turn can pass the information to the coordinator. The coordinator
will then pass the information onto TPD, and other block captains.
It is important
to remember that is you see suspicious acitivity or a crime in progress,
to call TPD immediately. Only afterward should you inform your block captain.
Crime
Watch Coordinator for the Woodland Drives neighborhood is Jennifer Vrynios

Safety Tips:
In case of Home Invasion
Put your car keys beside your bed at night. If you hear a noise outside your home or someone trying to get in your house, just press the panic button for your car. The alarm will be set off, and the horn will continue to sound until either you turn it off or the car battery dies.
Secure Sliding Glass Doors
Install screws to the top of the door track to prevent up and down movement of the door. Leave the screw out far enough to prevent the movement, but you will still be able to close the door.
Do not forget that TPD's Crime Prevention unit provides FREE residential Security Surveys.
